Painting the Roses Red...ish
hello everyone!! so I was on the internet shopping and I saw the most unusual thing.. it was alice in wonderland leggings. I thought they were so cool so they inspired me a little bit. that was always my favorite childhood Disney movie, and after I saw that movie, I started to sing the songs.... "painting the roses red, painting the roses red!" and if reminded me that I had plain white roses.. and I wanted to make them more exciting:) so I decided to paint my roses pink, yellow, teal and purple:D
I decided to glitterize mine, but I thought they looked rough and just unique and shabby chic at the same time! literally all I did was dip them in paint and sprinkled glitter on them lol! so just try this wit your fake flowers and paint and I promise it will spice everything up!
short post today for a short and easy project!! but ok, so if you guys want, try out any of these projects on this blog, or for the love of art, and tweet them to me @Kayla_Turner_22 and I will give you guys a shout out on this blog and ill give all my viewers the links and everything to your blog! you can also email me your picks ( turnerk1234@gmail.com )

DIY: Vintage Frame Bulletin Board
Hello everyone! so a long time ago I did a tutorial on painting vintage frames here's a link to that
http://kayla-beautyofetc.blogspot.com/2013/05/diy-vintage-frames-cheap-easy-room.html
but today, I'm going to take the tutorial a step farther!
use that last tutorial to paint your frames and now were going to make those into bulletin board's.
you will need:
-painted frames
-cork board paper
-foam board pieces
-hot glue gun
so this is super simple, the cork I bought was super thin and it had a sticky back. so I took a piece of foam board and cut it to fit the back of the frame, and then took the piece of crock and stuck it on the foam.
then you literally just glue it onto the frame with some hot glue and your done!!

if you want to hang them on the wall, then I just took and exacto knife and cut a triangle on the top. or, your could just duct tape it to the wall :)
thanks for reading! you could use this idea on much bigger frames! this is really cool! I use these frames to display my tags of the months.. if you follow my "for the love of art " blog then you'll know what I'm talking about ha-ha

DIY: Galaxy Shoes!!
Hey everyone! so today, I'm going to show you guys how to do my version of the galaxy shoes! these are super popular this summer and the galaxy patter is just growing in popularity! People are wearing the galaxy print on everything from shoes to pants to shirts and jewelry!
to do this project you will need:
- an old pair of sneakers ( vans or converse work best )
-fabric paint or acrylic paint in colors black, blue, purple, teal, and white ( fabric paint is best because its flexible with the fabric, but with these shoes, they were harder, so I found acrylic paint worked fine, plus I already had it handy :D )
- foam paint brushes
-dotting tools or toothpicks
-hard paintbrush
- *optional rhinestones*
ok, so this is what my shoes looked like before...
so to start, you want to take the shoelaces out, and take either painters tape, or regular tape, and go around the white part of the shoes to make sure you don't get any tape on them. then, paint the entire shoe black.
I know it looks like I got paint everywhere, but its on the tape.
then, take a foam applicator and dab random splotches of dark blue, teal, purple and white all over the shoes, knowing that the white spots are the galaxys so try and make them oval shaped.
it might look a little funky at first, but then, take a hard paint brush and dip it in white paint and fling it in little splotches on the shoe to create the look of little stars like above.
then take a toothpick and add bigger stars in patterns
then the last step is to glue on some rhinestones if you want to and then you put the laces back in and take the tape off.
these are pretty cool! and there a lot more exciting than they were before! plus these are custom, so you can say that no one else has a pair like these!
if you want to, you can take fabric dye and dye the shoelaces to match, but I thought it looked cool with the white.
if you liked this tutorial you might like other DIY'S I have on this blog! If you want, you can check them out in the archive section to the right on the screen!!

The Best Way to Clean your Make-up Brushes!
hello everyone! I took a glance at all my makeup brushes the other day and I noticed/remembered that I haven't cleaned them in awhile ... so I used my old method to clean them up!
if your brushes look like this.. its time to clean them, these brushes are full of germs and need to be cleaned because your taking the germs on your face, now one the brushes... now in your make-up, plus, its always nice to know that your not going to have a surprise neon color in your neutral make-up. ( as in color left over in the brushes from last night at the club ha-ha )
I just used 3 products on these brushes:
1.) dawn disinfecting dish soap- this helps to get the unwanted germs out
2.) olive oil - this helps remove the makeup in the brushes, and makes them feel soft
3.) baby shampoo- to calm down the harsh dawn dish soap.
the first thing I do is I put my "supplies" on a plate like below:
then after you do that you just rinse off the bristles and lay on a paper towel to dry! you never want to put the brushed hair up because the water will run up and drip into the barrel and loosen the glue and your brush will break, its best to store the brushes up side down, but I figure just laying them down works to ha-ha

you first put your brush in the pure olive oil, this is going to get he makeup out of the brush and recondition the hairs. look at all this disgusting makeup the olive oil removed below
then I swivel the brush in a mixture of the dawn dish soap and baby shampoo. the dawn also helps get the unwanted oils off the brush, you don't want to put oil like that on your face haha

DIY: Make-up Brush Holder! ( Cheap & easy room decor day 4)
Hello everyone! today I'm going to show you a idea that was not mine. I found it by the lovely missglamorazzi on YouTube. it's a makeup brush holder made using a empty candle jar, and some glitter! Here's the video I watched to make this brush holder below!
Missglamorazzi's video for the DIY brush holder!
to make this brush holder, you will need:
1.) a empty candle jar
2.) modpodge ( I'm using matte modgepodge but you could use glossy)
3.) glitter
first you need to clean out the old wax out of the jar. I did this by placing it in the freezer overnight and the next day using a knife to crack the wax like ice and get it out.
then I washed it out with some dawn dish soap and some acetone ( nail polish remover) it helps to get the residue out
next paint the inside of the jar with a layer of modpodge
after that now you just have to add some filler! I used decorative marbles but you can use plant filer or you don't need to have anything:)
done! wasn't that fun:)
Thank you to missglamorazzi for the idea! it looks so cute and can be used for soo many things!
have a great day and thanks for stopping by!!

next, pick out your glitter and dump some in there and roll it around to cover the entire jar.
I chose a light pink glitter to match my room décor.
after I gave it sometime to dry, I sprayed the glitter on the inside with some spray adhesive first, then I put another couple layers of modpodge on the inside, so the glitter doesn't get on anything. glitter can be really annoying, but this method, you don't even know its there.after that now you just have to add some filler! I used decorative marbles but you can use plant filer or you don't need to have anything:)

DIY: Bracelet Holder/ Display! ( Cheap and Easy Room decor Day 3 )
Hello everyone! today I'm going to show you how to make a cheap and easy Bracelet Holder or a display! everything I got to make this was from the dollar store! I was inspired by a famous you-tuber named annorshine ( Ann or shine ). you guys should check out her channel she has amazing diy's.
-a small plate ( I used a candle holder ) ( for the bottem of the display
then you need to put a bunch of hot glue around the rim and place the plate up side down onto the glass.
Supplies:
-a small plate ( I used a candle holder ) ( for the bottem of the display
- something to put the bracelets through ( a small round vase works perfect for this
- if you used something hollow then you can fill it with something, I used marbles
-Hot glue gun
The first thing you need to do is clean your components to insure that the glue will stick and stay well.
next you need to fill your vase with the marbles or whatever filling your using. you could use, flower petals, silk flowers, rocks from a collection, fake gems etc.
make sure you leave enough room at the top to make sure that the plate can touch the rim of the glass
then you need to put a bunch of hot glue around the rim and place the plate up side down onto the glass.
The flip this right side up and you have a bracelet holder!
the bottom plate can be used to hold excess earrings or from broken bracelets or bracelets that don't fit. I mainly have rubber bracelets from concerts put I'm working on getting more!
thank you guys for reading!! I hope this helped you and you guys could even do this project on a smaller scale and use it as a ring holder! even if it was the same size plate you could use multiple stacks for rings haha!.
Make your day great! see ya soon!
